Focus: Mud Terrain
Mud-terrain is an unambiguously specialised tyre for heavy going — mud, deep ruts, snow, rocks. Goodyear WRANGLER DURATRAC is one of them. Large tread blocks with deep voids clear themselves and dig in where an ordinary tyre only slips. You pay for it on the road: more noise, less comfort, longer braking distances and higher fuel consumption. If most of your kilometres are on tarmac, this is more tyre than you need.

What owners say
2000 Silverado 1500 trailboss OEM Duratracs. Bought the truck brand new and I wouldn't buy these tires again because at about 10-15k in they started with a nasty vibration (worse than any mud tire I've ever driven), especially between 50-60mph, and generally noisy like a mud tire at most other speeds. The inside of the tires are obviously and severely cupped, probably the issue. What I don't know is whether this is my truck's fault or the tires. I rotated on schedule, but only balanced twice, and never had an alignment done - it's possible that may be the cause.
Other than noise, in 60k miles I still have enough tread to where I could go 70k. I drive off-road in snow a couple times per year and they perform very well. Wet traction has always been pretty terrible. Never had a puncture, and that's with a decent amount of sidewall abuse; even for C rated tires I think they are relatively tough.
I have owned 3 set of Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac the first 2 sets were 255/75r17 and now I have 285/70r17. They are fantastic tires and very good in mud, sand, dirt, and amazing in the snow. The can be a little wobbly in loose gravel. I keep buying them BUT they wear very unevenly some lugs wear before other lugs and have on all three sets. They get VERY loud as they wear unevenly. See the photo of the uneven wear. I will keep getting them as they are fantastic off road and snow tires.
Very good tire on a Ram 1500 in Canada. Much better winter traction than the Toyo AT2. I have also had the BFG KO2 and they are very similar. Performance is excellent in the snow for four years now. Not too loud or harsh on the highway but more so than the P metric tires that came on the truck new.
Noisy
Great in wet and dry the first three years. After that very slippery in wet conditions. Haven’t tested the tire in Snow.
