Focus: All Terrain

All-terrain really is fifty-fifty: as much at home on tarmac as on an unpaved road. Kumho ROAD VENTURE AT52 belongs to this category. A chunkier block tread and reinforced construction bite on gravel, mud and rock and resist cuts better, while the tyre keeps usable manners in everyday traffic. It is the choice for SUVs and pickups that meet rough ground more than just now and then, yet still cover their daily kilometres on the road. Compared with a road tyre, expect more noise and a slightly longer wet braking distance.

Picked these up for a 2013 Toyota Highlander. I wanted something with a firmer sidewall, that I could run all year round, and take on gravel roads with a little extra sidewall protection. (I haven't done a winter on them yet but will try to update the review when I do.) If I'm honest, I was also attracted to the idea of butching up a mall crawler a little.
I replaced a worn set of 19" Michelin Defender LTX. The ride became less jarring over bumps, so more comfortable, and the stiffer sidewalls helped retain a nice handling feel. They're louder due to the tread pattern, but nothing the radio can't manage. Mileage has been a little worse, but thats to be expected with new and more aggressive tires.
If you needed a comfortable, durable tire that wasn't too heavy, and maintained reasonable mileage, I would consider these. Overall I have been happy with these tires, but have learned I would have preferred a tire more suited to highway cruising.

Over all a good tyre. I live in South Australia mid north. Good grip in dry and wet. I have noted now that the Tyre has reached mid life they do develop increased road noise. However handling etc a very good tyre. I would probably buy again at the right price.

Decided to go with this tyre because of the good reviews and the good price. I decided to get them to replace cheap chinese MT tyres which were deadly in the rain, but now with the at52, the car handles great in all conditions including rain and some snow. Its a great all around tyre with a great price but is a big on the stiffer side.

I have been using my AT52s on my Jeep JK for about 8000km and so far I really like them. I wanted an all-terrain tire which doesn't scare me on german highways... I drive this car on longer distances as well as off road, so I really needed something safe. Other ones I have driven severely lack good braking at higher speeds on asphalt, especially in the rain as well as handling difficulties. I drove these tires in all kinds of conditions by now and I am very happy with them. They handle precisely, which makes it fun for my 2 door. If its raining, muddy, snowy or bone dry you can expect the handling rather well. However, I noticed that in 2high you experience more understeer. That most likely has to do with my car itself too, but steering and ride height is pretty much stock. The fuel efficiency is alright too, but not great.

I’ve been running the Kumho Roadventure AT52s on my Nissan Patrol for about 12,000 kms, and I’m really impressed. They are priced well compared to other big-name brands, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet and smooth they are on the road, I honestly expected more noise and a rougher ride.
Off-road, my focus is on sand dunes, and these tires haven’t let me down. I drop the pressure to around 15 PSI, and they perform great on both hard-packed and loose soft sand.
If I had to nitpick, I wish they were a bit lighter and had white lettering on the sidewall (purely for looks, of course
