Technical information
Focus: Standard
The largest and best-selling category, and Michelin ALPIN 6 belongs to it. No single property is pushed here at the expense of the others — comfort, grip, noise and tread life keep a sensible balance. For most drivers it is the safest bet: the tyre behaves predictably in the dry and in the wet and covers a decent number of kilometres.

What owners say
After 6 years and ~37.000km of use, the tyre still looks good, has a usable tread left. From the beginning till now it performance excellent in dry and wet conditions. Yesterday I've covert 300km of motorway in a very strong storm and they felt really good on a tarmac that was soaked.
On the other hand, the tyre really disappointed on snow covered roads. We live in the mountains and when the roads are covered with snow, the tyre loses traction very easily uphill.
So, the tyre is really great if you live in areas that don't see a lot of snow.
I bought the Alpin 6 instead of the Continental ts850p, Dunlop Winter Sport or Goodyear ultragrip when it just came out, as a Michelin fan, and to be honest, most probably the alternatives would've been better. There were no reviews back then, but I trusted the brand and got them. Right after I mounted them on the car, I went to the mountains were there was fresh, in some places wet snow, to test them, and honestly I felt a little disappointed. Lateral stability in both wet and snow was very poor. Braking was good, but the lateral stability not that much. I've gotten stuck in them a few times in 10cm hard snow on the parking lot, and had to maneuver my way out with my FWD Peugeot 508. Dry grip on the other hand was really amazing, especially for a winter tyre. Definitely better than a midrange summer tyre. They were really comfortable and quite better than the summer Michelin PS4 on all surfaces with the same tyre pressure. Wear is amazing, as expected for Michelin. Before I sold the car, u used them for more than 55k km, they still have between 5.5 and 6 mm left. Couldn't get the chance to test the new layer that comes out when you reach 4mm. One of the tyres had a little defect though, it didn't look deformed or unevenly worn but the car always leaned towards the side, on which this tyre was mounted, while driving. Balancing and wheel alignment were perfect, so it wasn't this. This appeared on their third year. But I drove the car like that anyway.
I have it since 2019 on a Mazda 6 estate. Dry and wet grip are very good. Comfort is also good, although they make quite some noise.
On the other hand, I'm very disappointed of the snow and ice handling and traction.
Wear is really good after 6 seasons they still have tread for another one, although if there is a lot of snow coming, really consider dumping them
When new, very nice tyres. Comfortable ride.
However, just after 2 winters and 10kkm, ice grip was quite bad, car would just slip on ice. Compared to 5 yeras old hankook winter icept2 on other car, i felt a little disappointed with Michelins.
Bought used wheels with 4-5 year old tires for a year to use.
Average tyre, nothing bad, nothing significant, worked enough even for summer months in +30*C.
Not as noisy as expected by the shape of a tread pattern. I guess phase sequencing helped a lot.
Maybe rubber was old enough, so snow/ice/wet performance started to degrade and were not as best as it could.
Threw away with still 5-6 mm left.
