The largest and best-selling category, and Yokohama A539 belongs to it. No single property is pushed here at the expense of the others — comfort, grip, noise and tread life keep a sensible balance. For most drivers it is the safest bet: the tyre behaves predictably in the dry and in the wet and covers a decent number of kilometres.

I did quite a bit of research on tyres for my Escort after Uniroyal stopped producing the Rallye 340, this was the ideal tyre for my "on the edge" driving; excellent grip, dry & wet, and utterly dependable & predictable; barrelling into tightening mountain roads in North Wales knowing the tyres wouldn't let go. The Yokohama A539 is very similar, possibly better when braking very hard in the wet.
Just before the recent price hikes I bought another set as spare.
TBF I only drive the car when there is zero salt on the road.
Thoroughly recommend the A539.
One of the best Classic Mini tyres available. These are currently on a 1380 Supercharged Mini running negative camber arms and adjustable suspension. They are around £10-15 more than other tyres but remember that a classic Mini has no ABS, no power steering and drum brakes at the rear so good grip is essential.
