Focus: Sport
With sport tyres, grip in every situation is what decides — under hard acceleration, under braking, in the dry and in the wet. Goodyear EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC 6 belongs to this group. Stability at higher speeds and precision through corners come on top of that. One thing drivers often underestimate when buying: grip comes from a softer compound, and a softer compound wears faster. Where a standard tyre covers roughly 40,000 km, a sport tyre manages about 20,000 to 30,000 km — and considerably less with a sharper driving style or a heavier, more powerful car.

<p>I have had these tires for 4 years, it will be 5 years starting next summer season here in Central Europe. Driven about 35000 kms on them, as they are exchanged for winter tires around November each year, and then installed back around March. I've been very happy with them, they are seriously good tires - great grip, great handling - at least for the first 2-3 years. Lately, in their 4th year, I start to feel they're not that confident anymore in edge cases (e.g. fast and sharp turn onto a highway). Comfort and noise was average I guess - I have them on 19" wheels on Mazda 6, with quite narrow sidewalls (45), so it's definitely noticeably harder when switching from 225/55/17s after winter. In the first two years, I thought they wore out quite fast, but maybe it slowed down a bit over time; now I think they would still last their 5th year, which is when I would exchange them anyway due to age. Overall a very good tire.</p>
<p>Der Goodyear ist ein richtig toller Reifen, der leise und komfortabel zu fahren ist. Egal ob bei Trockenheit oder bei Nässe - der Asymmetric 6 zeigt in allen Lagen seine Souveränität.</p><p>Ganz besonders gefällt mir das Profil. Schöne Lauffläche und sieht toll auf der Felge aus. Ich fahre diese Kombi auf der Hinterachse.</p><p>Wird wieder gekauft!</p>
<p>Follow up review after 10,000 ish miles.</p><p>Fantastic all-rounders with wet and dry grip that can't be faulted really, for every day driving and occasionally being pushed.</p><p>Good feedback and responsiveness also.</p><p>From friends with Michelin PS4 and 5s, I do think they have a slightly (slightly) more comfortable ride than the A6, but not quite the feedback - take your pick.</p><p>Wear has been fine. They won't last as long as more eco-oriented tyres, but it's well worth it for the other compromises those ones make re grip and security.</p><p>Rolling resistance seems fine too, and various tests seemed to have them doing well there compared to the (UHP) competition.</p><p>Again, just great all-rounders.</p>
<p>These were fitted to my new car and honestly I was impressed. I drive a lot in all conditions and the overall performance was great.
I did not know what to expect from new but the wet grip I found to be beyond what I expected.
Dry grip never broke away and braking was solid in all conditions.
I did aquaplane once but it was at motorway speed and large amount of standing water, my heart stopped but it came out in straight-line and performance well.
Wear was good after 15000mile there was still 5mm+ tread on the front -BMW120 24MY
I would buy again.</p>
<p>This comparison is with the stock Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres that come as OEM on this vehicle.
Although there was an instantly noticable difference, I held off the review until a few 000 miles were covered and some experience in wet conditions was gained - the summer of '26 extended that period!
So, after 2K miles on a European road trip through Germany and Switzerland, and some UK jaunts, most types of road surface have been driven.
The original S001's I found to be good in the dry, but could easily oversteer on a damp roundabout, with the slightest early acceleration. The ride and handling was ok. The mileage of the tyres' use was from 8k to 25k miles, and they still had over 3mm all round when changed - I did rotate for even wear.</p><p>The most immediately noticable difference in the Eagle F1's is the comfort and handling. You expect a firmer ride in an MX5 ND, but, particularly at high speeds, they are markedly better over bumps and imperfections. The dry handling is very reassuring - dry grip superb. Although not pushed hard in the wet, when rain arrived, the grip was good in the heavy showers, with no hint of aquaplaning.
I quite liked the more curved profile of the S001's and felt that the very straight sidewalls of the renowned Michelin PS4's and 5's were not for me - though they look cool. The F1's give that slight curved profile AND a really good curb protection too.
Another factor was the cheaper price compared to the PS5's, at the time.
I cannot comment on wear yet, but my view is that, with my average of 5-6K miles of weekend/holiday use, they should expire around the 5-6 year mark, when tyres should be replaced on age. We will see!
